SOUND & VISION
THU 6th July, 2017 / 21 h / CINEMA TABOR VAROSH
Once again Tabor Film Festival is preparing a special musical-film experience in which image and sound will have an equal part in creating new form. Visually impressive films will be screened without their original film score and the film score will be interpreted by musicians. Film becomes the basis of further creative impulse. This year musicians from British band STEMS, will offer their version of film music. It is an experiment on the border between sound and music. At the same time everything can be used as a source of new sound manifestations.
With their music they will provide film scores for the films by Georges Méliès, a Trip To The Moon and Kingdom of Fairies, and for the video filmed by NASA’s telescope the Hubble.
PUT NA MJESEC / A TRIP TO THE MOON/ LA VOYAGE DE LA LUNE (1902.) ‒ Georges Méliès
KRALJEVSTVO VILA / KINGDOM OF FAIRIES / LE ROYAUME DES FÉES (1903.) ‒ Georges Méliès

Stems were formed in 2011 by John Dorr, since then there have been many line up changes but the core instrumentation always remains classical strings and guitar.
The music often contains opposite/ conflicting emotions, intense and delicate, big and intimate. It is influenced by a mixture of many things, from classical to film soundtracks, post rock and trip hop.

Christine Avis – Cello
